What Point Loma does to a refrigerator
Close to the ocean, salt in the air settles on a refrigerator's condenser coil and fan motor and slowly eats at them. In Point Loma that wear shows up sooner than it would inland, so coils and fans are among the first parts we check.
Problems worth ruling out first on a refrigerator in Point Loma:
- Door Seal Damaged
- Condenser Coils Dirty
- Condenser Fan Failure
- Evaporator Fan Failure
- Door Hinge Broken
- Water Dispenser Issue
Known weak spots on True refrigerators
- Cabinet warm
- Condenser fan stopped
- Gasket damaged
- Door not closing
Condenser fan motors, evaporator fans, temperature controls, and door gaskets are the repairs we see most often on True refrigerators. Owners typically call us about one of these: cabinet warm, condenser fan stopped, and gasket damaged. If the cabinet runs warm, look at the condenser coil; a layer of lint or grease is the most common cause. A clicking every few minutes with no cooling is typically the start relay or overload trying and failing to start the compressor.
