Repair Service Shaped Around San Diego Homes
San Diego ProFix Appliance Repair repairs GE appliances in homes from the coast to East County. We use genuine GE parts where they're available and tell you up front when a part has to be ordered. We're an independent repair company, not a GE service center: if your appliance is still under GE's warranty, contact GE first. Out of warranty, you get a written estimate before any work starts, and repairs carry a 90-day parts and 30-day labor warranty.

GE at a glance
GE Appliances is headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, and has been owned by Haier since 2016, which licenses the GE name. The family runs from basic GE models through GE Profile, Café and Monogram, and much of the line is built at US plants. GE built its first electric refrigerators in the 1920s, and its Monitor Top design was one of the first widely sold household refrigerators. Standard GE models cover builder and replacement buyers, GE Profile adds features and finishes, Café adds customizable styling, and Monogram is the built-in luxury tier. GE is one of the few brands that offers its own over-the-range and speedcook microwaves alongside full laundry and refrigeration.
Open one up and you find electronic range controls shared across GE, Profile and Café, Advantium speedcook ovens, door-mounted ice makers on French-door refrigerators, and built-in Wi-Fi on newer Profile and Café models, and those choices shape how it fails and how it gets fixed. A GE, a GE Profile and a Café can share a cabinet and still use different boards and sensors, so we work from the full model number rather than the badge.
GE and the local climate
GE's electronic range and refrigerator controls are the parts most likely to fault after a Santa Ana outage or a surge when power comes back, so after a shutoff we check the board's supply before blaming the board. In condo towers and Mission Valley or UTC complexes, a leak from a GE becomes the neighbor's problem fast, so drain lines and supply connections get extra attention there.
Salt air is the quiet enemy of GE equipment in coastal neighborhoods; it eats condenser coils and electrical contacts long before the major components wear out. We service GE across the county, from La Jolla to El Cajon.
The GE faults that bring us out
Across the GE line, the recurring problems are refrigerator main control boards and evaporator fan motors, ice makers and dispenser assemblies, dishwasher circulation and drain pumps, gas range igniters and oven bake elements, and washer lid locks and drain pumps.
For GE freezers, the usual suspects are defrost systems on frost-free uprights, door gaskets, start relays and compressors, and temperature controls. For GE washers, the usual suspects are lid lock assemblies, drain pumps, shift actuators on top-loaders, and door boot seals on front-loaders. On GE dryers, expect heating elements, thermal fuses and cycling thermostats, drum rollers and idler pulleys, and gas valve coils on gas models.
We treat "the electronics are bad" as a hypothesis on GE equipment. A meter reading usually settles it in minutes.
GE care tips for San Diego homes
Vacuum the condenser on GE bottom-freezer and French-door models once or twice a year, because many of them breathe through a narrow front grille that clogs quietly. In a condo, know where the water shut-off is and check supply lines yearly; a small leak travels. Near the coast, wipe down exposed metal and have the condenser and terminals looked at during any service visit; corrosion caught early is cheap.
A short video of the noise or the error code is often more useful than a description, so grab one if you can.
Repair or replace? Thinking it through for GE
Parts for current GE, Profile and Café models move through a large national distribution network and are usually a few days out, while trim and control parts for older models can take longer. Parts for popular GE models move through every major distributor, which keeps waiting time down on the common repairs.
Most GE repairs make sense through the middle of the appliance's life because parts are easy to get, but on a basic model with a failed sealed system replacement usually wins. The estimate is written and agreed before we start; parts carry 90 days of coverage and labor 30.
Looking for model numbers, recall notices or warranty registration? Those live on the manufacturer's own site: GE Appliances official site. We are an independent repair company and are not affiliated with GE.
