Independent Appliance Repair
for San Diego Homes
We fix the refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers and ranges people rely on every day, in their kitchens, garages and laundry closets across San Diego County. The way we work is simple: find the real problem, tell you what it costs before we touch it, and stand behind the repair.
Who We Are
San Diego ProFix Appliance Repair is a local, independent repair company. We aren't a manufacturer's service arm or a call center that hands your job to whoever is free. We work on most major household brands, from the builder-grade washer in a rental to the built-in refrigerator in a remodeled kitchen, and we treat both with the same care.
Most of our work is in people's homes, so a lot of it comes down to manners as much as skill: showing up in the window we gave you, protecting your floors, explaining what we found without jargon, and leaving the space the way it was. A good repair visit should feel uneventful. The appliance works again, you know what was wrong, and you know what you paid for.
How a Visit Works
From the first call to the test run, here's what to expect.
- 1
You tell us what's going on
Book online or call with the appliance, the brand and what it's doing: not cooling, won't drain, clicking but not lighting. A model number helps, and a photo of the rating sticker is even better. If your building has parking or elevator rules, mention them here.
- 2
We set a window we can keep
We'd rather give you a realistic arrival window than an optimistic one. When the day's schedule has room, that can be the same day. When it doesn't, we tell you so.
- 3
The technician diagnoses the fault
That means testing, not guessing: checking voltage and resistance, watching a cycle, reading error codes in context. You get a plain explanation of what failed and why, and if something nearby is about to fail too, we say so.
- 4
You get a written estimate
The repair, the parts and the price, in writing, before anything is replaced. If you'd rather think it over, get a second opinion or put the money toward a new unit, that's your call.
- 5
We repair it and run it
Once you approve, we make the repair and run the appliance before we leave. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you how long it should take and come back to finish the job.
What We Hold Ourselves To
Four commitments that apply to every job, whether it's a dryer that won't heat or a refrigerator that quit overnight.
Diagnosis before parts
Swapping parts until something works is expensive, and you end up paying for it. We confirm the failed component before ordering anything, so the part we install is the part that was broken.
Written estimates
Every repair starts with a written estimate you approve. No work begins on a verbal ballpark, and the price you agree to is the price on the estimate.
A warranty on the repair
Repairs carry a 90-day parts & 30-day labor warranty. If the same fault comes back inside that window, we return and fix it at no charge.
Straight talk on repair vs. replace
Some appliances aren't worth fixing. When the repair would cost more than about half the price of a comparable new unit on an appliance that's past the middle of its life, we'll tell you, even though it means we don't do the repair.
The Homes and Conditions We Work In
San Diego looks mild on a weather map, but appliances here deal with more than you'd think, and the trouble changes a few miles at a time.
Near the coast, salt air works on anything metal. In Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, Point Loma and La Jolla we see corroded condenser coils, rusted hinges and fan motors that wore out early, especially on refrigerators and laundry kept in a garage.
Inland, heat is the bigger problem. In El Cajon, Santee and parts of La Mesa, a closed garage on a summer afternoon can get hotter than many refrigerators and freezers are built to handle. Fall Santa Ana winds bring dust, more heat and the occasional power outage or surge that a control board doesn't survive.
Everywhere, the water is hard. Scale builds up in dishwasher spray arms and filters, ice maker fill tubes, refrigerator water valves and washer inlet screens, and a lot of “it just stopped” calls trace back to minerals.
The homes vary just as much: Craftsman bungalows in North Park with tight kitchens, 1950s tract houses in Clairemont, downtown condos with loading-dock schedules and HOA rules, beach cottages and duplexes in OB, newer master-planned neighborhoods in eastern Chula Vista, and plenty of rentals that change hands with every military move. Laundry is usually in the garage or a hallway closet, rarely in a dedicated room. We plan for all of it, and we ask the questions up front so the visit goes smoothly.
What We Don't Do
Knowing where our job ends saves everyone time.
We're not a manufacturer-authorized warranty center.
If your appliance is still under the manufacturer's warranty, contact the manufacturer first so the repair is covered at no cost to you. Once the factory warranty has ended, we can handle the repair directly.
We don't start work without your approval.
No repair begins until you've seen the written estimate and said yes.
We don't replace parts on a hunch.
If we can't confirm what failed, we tell you that instead of guessing on your dime.
We don't talk you into a repair that won't pay off.
If replacement makes more sense, you'll hear it from us.
We're not an emergency gas service.
If you smell gas, don't use switches or appliances. Leave the house and call SDG&E or 911 from outside. Once the utility has made it safe, we can repair the appliance.
