What Clairemont does to a microwave
Over-the-range microwaves pull grease and steam from the cooktop below, so a clogged grease filter or a failing vent fan is as common a complaint as a unit that won't heat.
Problems worth ruling out first on a microwave in Clairemont:
- Microwave Not Heating
- Sparking Inside
- Turntable Not Spinning
- Sparking Inside Microwave
- Turntable Making Grinding Noise
- Over-Range Microwave Ventilation Poor
Known weak spots on Thor microwaves
- Drawer not opening
- Not heating
- Controls not responding
- Drawer stalling
Microwave drawers open and close with a motor, gears and position switches, so a drawer that stops partway is usually a track or switch issue rather than a heating problem. The heating side is a conventional magnetron system with the same high-voltage hazards as any microwave. Because the drawer is built into the cabinetry, repairing it is often easier than finding a replacement that fits the same opening.
