Many San Diego homes have no central air, so on warm days the kitchen heats up and the wine cooler has to work harder. Dusty condenser coils and a tired condenser fan make that worse, and both are quick to check.
Older homes here often have narrow doorways and original hookups, so a note about where the appliance sits helps us plan.

Common symptoms and quick checks
Not cooling at all: listen for the fans. On a thermoelectric unit, feel the heat sink at the back; if it is cold or the interior fan is silent, a fan or the power supply board is the likely culprit. On a compressor unit, a hot compressor with a silent condenser fan, or a compressor that clicks without starting, points to the fan or the start components.
Temperature display jumping around: a failing thermistor, a sensor knocked out of its clip, or a door that is not sealing. Check the gasket all the way around and make sure no bottle is propping the door.
Water pooling on the floor of the cabinet: a blocked drip channel behind the rear wall, or humid air coming in through a worn gasket.
Buzzing, rattling or a vibrating rack: a fan blade touching frost or debris, a loose shelf rail, or a compressor resting on worn rubber grommets. Make sure the cabinet is level and not touching surrounding cabinets.
Frost on the back wall: the temperature is set very low, the defrost or drip system is not clearing, or a door seal is leaking. Brief frost that clears during the off-cycle is normal on many compressor models.
Corks drying or labels peeling: humidity too low or too high, often traceable to placement or a seal problem rather than a part failure.
