Thor stove repair: what to know
On the Thor side of the stove market, the cooktop on Thor gas ranges has sealed high-output burners, a simmer burner and heavy continuous cast-iron grates.
When a Thor stove breaks down, it is usually igniters soaked by spills, spark modules, burner caps out of position, or valve faults. The symptoms that bring us out include burner clicking but not lighting, uneven flame, and constant sparking. A burner that clicks but will not catch usually needs its cap seated and the ports cleared, especially after a boil-over. A coil burner that glows unevenly or has a visible blister should be replaced before it fails completely.
High-output sealed burners produce more boil-overs onto the igniters than a standard stove, and wet igniters are the most common reason a burner clicks without lighting. The simmer burner runs a small flame that goes out easily if its ports are partly blocked. Replacing a spark module is only needed once the igniters and switches have been ruled out.
Santa Ana dust settles on everything, including burner ports; a quick clean can solve a lazy flame on a stove. Before quoting, we clean and dry the suspect igniter and retest; that alone solves many no-light complaints.
A Thor range burner that clicks continuously usually has a wet or dirty igniter. Even a common job such as the burner caps out of position gets a written estimate up front, and our 90-day parts / 30-day labor warranty applies once it is done.
Keep burner caps aligned on the heads so the flame spreads evenly. We handle simmer flame going out on Thor stoves across San Diego County, from the beaches to the East County.
