Roper stove repair: what to know
Before any Roper stove repair, it helps to know the hardware: the Roper stovetop is a plain coil electric or open-style gas top built for easy service.
Expect the usual Roper stove suspects: coil element, receptacle, infinite switch, and burner ports. Owners typically call us about one of these: coil not heating, burnt smell, and burner lights unevenly. Remove the drip pan and look for melted or scorched wiring at the receptacle before using that burner again. On electric coil stoves, a burner that heats only on high points to a failing infinite switch.
Roper's simple coil and gas tops are easy to diagnose, with faults usually confined to one burner, its receptacle or its switch. Open gas burners can clog with spills, giving uneven flames. Parts are inexpensive Whirlpool components, which makes repair practical.
Near the coast, damp air and boil-overs make stove igniters slower to spark, and corrosion on the burner base follows. A stove visit starts at the burner that misbehaves: igniter, cap, port and switch, then the spark module or the element supply.
A Roper range with a dead surface coil usually has a burned element or receptacle. We price the coil element and similar repairs in writing before any work starts.
Wipe the cooktop after spills before they bake onto the igniters. Have the model and serial ready when you call about burnt smell; it lets us check parts first.
