Wolf stove repair: what to know
On a Wolf range or rangetop the top is a set of dual-stacked sealed burners, sometimes with an infrared charbroiler or griddle.
Igniter tips cracked or fouled, simmer ports clogged, spark module, and griddle or charbroiler igniter are the repairs we see most often on Wolf stoves. Owners typically call us about one of these: burner lights slowly, simmer flame goes out, and griddle not heating. Look at the white ceramic igniter tip; a crack or heavy residue on it is enough to stop the burner lighting reliably. On electric coil stoves, a burner that heats only on high points to a failing infinite switch.
On Wolf rangetops, each burner has its own igniter and simmer system, so clicking or failure to light often traces to one burner rather than the module. Infrared charbroilers and griddles have separate igniters and controls. Most repairs involve cleaning or replacing igniters and are worthwhile.
If you smell gas around a stove, leave the home and call SDG&E or 911 from outside before calling anyone else. Diagnosis usually takes minutes on a stove, because the faults are local to one burner far more often than not.
A Wolf induction cooktop that will not recognize a pan is often seeing incompatible cookware or overheating from blocked ventilation below. Once the cause is confirmed, whether the griddle or charbroiler igniter or something less obvious, the estimate is in writing and the repair is warranted.
Clean burner ports with a straightened paper clip, not a toothpick that can break off. If burner lights slowly sounds familiar, note the model number and any code before you book a diagnosis.
