LG dryer repair: what to know
On the LG side of the dryer market, LG dryers come in electric and gas versions, many with sensor drying, steam refresh cycles and a Flow Sense alert that warns when the vent is restricted.
When an LG dryer breaks down, it is usually heating element or gas igniter failure, thermal fuse open from poor venting, drum rollers and belt wear, or moisture sensor bars coated with residue. In plain terms, the complaints we hear are dryer running but not heating, flow Sense vent blockage warning, and squealing or thumping drum. If the Flow Sense indicator lights up, check that the vent hose behind the dryer is not crushed and that the outside flap opens before suspecting the dryer itself. No heat on an electric dryer is often a thermal fuse or heating element; on gas, an igniter or gas valve coil.
LG dryers measure exhaust restriction and will cut heat or run long when the vent is partly blocked, so a no-heat or long-dry complaint is often a duct problem that the machine is correctly reporting. On gas models, a glowing igniter with no flame points to weak gas valve coils, while no glow points to the igniter or a thermal fuse. Element, fuse and roller repairs are inexpensive relative to the machine and almost always worth doing.
Time-of-use rates push many households to dry overnight, which makes a clean vent and a working thermal limit on the dryer even more important. Before quoting a dryer repair we disconnect the duct and test-run the machine to separate a vent problem from a machine problem.
LG parts move through LG's own US parts network and the large independent distributors, so common laundry and refrigerator parts usually arrive within a few days, while sealed-system components can take longer. Even a common job such as the moisture sensor bars coated with residue gets a written estimate up front, and our 90-day parts / 30-day labor warranty applies once it is done.
Do not overload the drum; air needs room to move for clothes to dry evenly. We handle dryer running but not heating on LG dryers across San Diego County, from the beaches to the East County.
